To all of my friends in our wonderful business, a BIG THANK YOU!!!

Each of us supports various organizations and groups by donating the excess samples that come our way. We get a personal benefit from our good work but sometimes we forget how our industry can change lives through the simplest acts of motivation and incentive.

Hopefully, we all know that we bring value to life and business and that our efforts are often appreciated. As an industry, we are generous. When people find out that we're in the "Cool Stuff" industry, we are peppered with requests for things to give away. As a supplier, I'm asked as often as anyone else but I don't have a line of products to steal samples from. Therefore, I shamelessly beg for excess samples and leftovers at shows and tabletops for my wife to give to her professional peers who are hard working teachers.

You have all been very free with your samples but I don't often get feedback from the community on your generosity. Usually, we get a "WOW" or equivalent from the recipient but infrequently do we get something we can share with you. In the past three years many of you have helped my wife and I  support groups as diverse as a village school of 31 poor Mexican children to developmentally handicapped teens in inner city high schools. You just have no idea how important a simple pen sample can be when you are trying to motivate an underachieving child to be better, or to a child in a dirt-poor one room schoolhouse for whom a pen is a magical and wondrous thing.

My wife received this letter and it is really directed to each and every one of you who do the nice things that typify our industry. I've always said, "How bad can life be when you get to make a living in a business is that has 400,000 ways to say "Thank You!"

I only have one way to say "Thank You" and it is from the bottom of my heart, and the hearts of those innumerable persons affected by your skills and generosity that I say it again.

Thank You!

Dear Ms. Barliant:

Thank you so much for your donation of hundreds of promotional gifts to my
wife's kindergarten students at Adams Elementary School. The incentives are
used daily in her classroom to enhance participation in all areas of the
curriculum.

Student generated letters will be forthcoming thanking you for your
kindness. Edna could not have afforded to purchase all these wonderful
incentives. It meant a lot to her and her students to be able to see a
tangible award for proper behavior and academic success.

Sincerely,

Larry Mikulanis
